Ipd's new heavy duty compressor bypass valve (HD CBV) upgrades the stock components to help you maximize boost developement while properly protecting the turbo from boost surge that can come from higher than stock boost levels. Our kit is complete and comes with a new HD diaphragm, 10lb & 14lb springs and a CNC machined billet aluminum follower. Symptoms of torn or failing factory CBV's are;
Delayed boost developement or low boost across the board
Fluttering or surging when closing the throttle when in boost
Erratic boost developement
The stock spring is 8 lbs and good for upto 12 lbs of boost
The included blue spring is 10 lbs and good for up to 17 lbs of boost
The included red spring is 14 lbs and good for up to 25 lbs of boost.
It's better to go conservative with your spring selection, if you're running 16 psi boost, run the 10 lb spring as it is the closest given your boost pressure. If you're pushing 18-19 psi then step up to the red 14 lb spring.

I finally got around to installing the CBV in my '95 850 recently and was rewarded with a much more responsive engine. The old valve had no apparent cracks but the plastic body was very brittle and easily broke when I retrieved the stock spring for reuse. I replaced the vacuum hose at the same time since it was showing signs of cracking. A simple and effective mod, thanks.

Definitely recommended especially if you are running higher than stock boost and other mods. I installed with the red (14lb) spring along with tuning the wastegate to a measured 6 psi on my iPd/MTE tuned 02 T5 and it made a big difference! Oh, and it's easily installed in the suggested 1 hour time frame if you remove the engine mount "strut" bar and OTE pipe. That part isn't in the installation instructions. ;)

This upgrade made a huge difference in the drivability in my 01 XC70 and has helped the car to hold boost. Getting to the lower bolt is hard and is blocked by a cooling hose, so don't expect this to be a simple swap job. The new CBV looks more hefty than OEM and comes with two extra springs in case I decide to get their tune in the future! Thanks for another great product!
