PCV Turbo (Flame Trap)

great complete kit and a way better price than dealer, good quality hoses and clamps and also a good intake gasket not like the cheap thin original one

This is a great ad complete kit to fix the intermittent smoke problem my I was having with my 1995 850 Turbo Wagon. I have worked as a Volvo tech before so pulling the intake manifold was not a challenge for me. I would like to see IPD create some instructions for this kit for those who have not attempted this task before so they can assess the feasibility of them doing it themselves. There is no skill level assigned to this item but I would assign it a level 3.

I'm very happy with this fix. After pulling off the intake manifold, I saw the culprit hose that was throwing the code I had. The job was a bit of a nightmare though because a number of the original vacuum hoses also had to be replaced. Buying the parts from IPD was definitely cheaper than buying from the dealer.

PRICE WAS GREAT FIT JUST LIKE FACTORY .. only problem i had was 90 degree elbows for intake and fresh air hose were to lose on intake and fresh air connectors so i had to change them from parts store but all and all great parts for volvos come from ipd new cust for life .......

My local Volvo dealer wanted to charge me over $15 for this part. Needless to say, I ordered the part from IPD for a fraction of the price.

This is absolutely a good fix. My 1998, S-70, non-turbo has 172,000 miles on it. I noticed when replacing the items, all of the old installed hoses had cracks in them. The Oil Separator box bottom outlet to the engine block was plugged almost shut. The old hoses were very brittle. What influenced me to do the repair was oil on the valve cover under the cover for the spark plug wires. Obviously I had a positive pressure in the crankcase to cause this. I would recommend when getting ready to do the repair that you get an additional O'ring that goes on the bayonette connector where the hose from the oil separator box connects to the throttle body. The old O'ring will not be reuseable. I would also recommend that you get the fuel injector O'rings just in case you want to remove the fuel rail from the intake manifold. I removed my fuel rail so I would not damage any injectors in case the manifold assembly got bumped or slipped. You can do the repair kit without removing the throttle cable or removing the vacuum hose to the brakes. I let my intake manifold rest on the plastic that covers the top of the radiator. The complete job took approximately 3 hours.

This is the fix, Period. If your having trouble after expressway driving/ erratic low stalling idle this is your problem. when it gets old it dumps fresh oil down your engines throat, what a joke. Volvo had me running in circles with reasons from AC pumps, MAF, vaccum hoses, dirty ETM to bad gas, when all along it was the PCV oil trap. IPD is fast reliable and they get you the right product for a great price, go for this without hesitation. I have 88,000 miles on the car now, I bought my car with 38,000 miles and it had an issue with this thing since I first got the car. Only took 50,000 miles to figure out.

The PCV hose did not fit as it should. The right angle bend was correct, however there should be an offset on the longer side of the bend. I was able to use the hos but it did not fit as it should.
