I put these plugs into my 1998 Volvo V70 non-turbo worked well for a couple of a month then check engine light came on show P0 300 code and random mis-fire. I read the possiblity it could be silicone from the ipd wire set re-installed and clean both the spark plug tops and wire. I ended up with the same result check engine light on tried replacing the problem cylinders with new plugs same problem. I finally decided to get the plugs recommended by owner's manual a Champion RC12YC bought at Napa for $1.37 a piece no more check engine light problem solved. Do not put platinum plugs in your non-turbo buy only volvo oem or the champion copper spark plug that the owner's manual recommends. IPD should note this on their website. It is a common problem for non-turbo owners.

I did a tune up about a three weeks ago and had ordered the tune up kit with the Denso Iridium plugs for a non-turbo 98 S70. I was having stumbles and stalls about a week later. The car left me stranded a few times not to mention how much I missed out on work and having to bum rides. Took the car to the dealer and three other Volvo specialists. Nobody could figure it out. Possible mass air, O2s , temp sensor, knock sensor, cam sensor, idle control sensor, vacuum pumps, vacuum hoses, shift lock micro switch, ignition switch, fuel pump, air pump, ECU, wiring, fuel injectors, whole new car, and no check engine light even came on. I went around and around with this car. I even got to the point to trade the car for some American junk, just to get away from the problem. So I went to the dealer and came home with factory plugs which were very impressive looking. Changed them out for the 15 dollar Iridiums. The car was like new again, unbelievable. Can't stop kicking myself. IPD needs to state this, at least for the non-turbo Volvos. Now I'm stuck with five 15 dollar paper weights. Go figure, don't make the same mistake I did. Use factory parts as much as possible. There is a reason it came like that from the factory. I'm sure Volvo put countless hours of testing into the right plugs and parts.

Got five plugs for the 60,000 mile tune up. They came gapped but after I installed them the car stalled at low RPM and ran very rough. Called customer service and was told that I should NOT re-gap them. I found the right gap on the Internet and regap them accordingly. Car has been running fine since. Good product, bad customer service!
ipd customer service response: From my experience as a technician, I recommend you never trust a pre-gapped spark plug. You should always check them. -Kevin
