Aluminum Skid Plate Take time to protect
your oil pan and transmission before it's too late. Cast aluminum parts are vulnerable to
damage from debris and potholes. Once damaged, the car cannot be driven without ruining
the engine, and oil pan replacement costs over $700.
Our skid plates are made of
hydro-cut aluminum plate, over 1/8th inch thick. Access to all service points is retained for
ease of maintenance. Lightweight aluminum construction is over 10 lbs. lighter than our
original steel version and installs in about 1/2 hour with common hand tools. Easy to install!
Pot holes, poor road conditions, even loose debris like rocks and sticks, can cause
fatal damage to your oil pan. With a skid plate under your car, you'll have an extra layer of
protection.

Went off the highway this past May....lucky I had this on my car. It saved my oil pan and transmission. Thanks IPD! Even if you never go off road like I did, this item sure gives you peace of mind. I have them on all of our Volvo's now.

I just started rocking the IPD skid plate this past spring (08) and love it. My car has the "lower than stock" TME Springs, so the skid plate gives me more confidence here on the mountain roads of the Sierra Nevada Range. After every little rain, there are new rocks on the road. And the Plate already had a cople nicks to show for it.
The only problem I've had is that one of the Rubber Bushings that are used to mount the front half has popped out. I am going to try to get a new one before re-setting it, becasue I think I will wreck the bushing while loosening it.

Install is a breeze, perfect fit, just slide into place and mount. 10 minute install with raising and lowering the car. Worth the money for the protection.

I bought this skid plate few years ago from IPD. It has been very effective to protect rhe lower engine from rocks or other hard material on the road. I have experience once to hit a piece of rock (+/- 20 inch in diameter)while driving at about 60 km/hr, the skid protects the engine very well. The skid is light weight but very solid and tough material. I would recommend for the user of Volvo 850 to install this item.
