Yes...A careful, patient and logical man can replace this himself. Wish I was one of those. This was a giant pain in my ass to dig out from under the dash and remove from the inside. Next time, I would consider driving to Portland from California and have IPD do the work to avoid working upside down with coolant running down my back as I pulled the Heater Core loose. The Heater Core must be moved forward, just to get to this little gem. Yes, I had lots of cloths ready, they were just at my feet outside the car. My original problem was a slight coolant leak, found at the firewall. where one of the Heater Hoses connected to Heater Hose Junction. Naturally, er logically, first step was to install a simple O Ring kit. O Ring kit instructions terrible, showing a screwdriver to scratch out the old O rings. Being the delicate Ballerina that I am, I damaged the O ring seats inside the Heater Hose Junction Coupler thus creating a worse problem than before. Coolant REALLY dripped, not quite flowing but almost. Now the Heater Hose Junction coupler had to be replaced. The Wife was not happy! I was not happy, but the dog still wagged her tail and still glad to see me. Pulled Carpet, removed kick panels, removed accelerator and pulled Heater Core back. Finally removed and replaced this priceless piece of Swedish plastic. What a pain in the ass. Have a nice day :-)

The instruction were so simple, nothing is that simple, my antenna's were up. There are two illustrations, one with a small arrow pointing in with the type of connector supplied and another pointing out with another type of connector that is not supplied. I thought this represented the in flow and out flow of the heater core. It took me a couple of minutes and a couple of installation attempts before realizing the arrows were indicating the part to remove were different that the updated parts that were supplied. Once I had my head on straight, it snapped into place easily at once. Piece of cake.

the directions are awful! the old original 1998 heater core used 2 oring (one on the IN and one on the OUT), yet, this thing come with 4, plus some hard o-ring yellow things, and then these clips. Huh?? The schematic is 'well' xeroxed, fuzzy and has ZERO directions or instructions or....
i used one o-ring per side after ho-humming for a while and it doesn't appear to leak...

ipd customer service response: ipd does not currently provide instructions for changing the heater core. There are some basic instructions in the heater core package from the manufacturer. 3545662 is a kit that contains all the o-rings and clips to remove the firewall coupler that the heater hoses connect to. The clips aren't needed for the heater core replacement in many cases.
