Upper Engine Stabilizer Mount

Upper Engine Stabilizer Mount

The original rubber engine stabilizer mount has proven to be a weak link that that can fail prematurely and allow the engine to rock and move during acceleration and braking, significantly affecting the handling and performance of the car. This mount is located near the top of the engine on the backside just to the right of center, connecting the engine to the firewall. The original mount requires a special Volvo press tool for removal and installation.

Our improved polyurethane material is stronger (we warranty it for life) and the 2 piece design allows for easy installation without special tools. The original mount is covered under the basic Volvo warranty, however we have heard from customers that have had the original rubber mount replaced several times. To inspect your mount, look for signs of the rubber separating where it is attached to the outer housing. The original rubber bushing can be removed and our HD replacement can be installed in about 30 minutes with common hand tools and included instructions.

Please note! These polyurethane bushings are firmer than the stock rubber parts they replace and can transmit additional vibration in some cases. Especially if the motor mounts and or transmission mounts are worn. When you replace the worn out rubber mount, now much of the load is supported by the new stiffer bushing and this can often lead to unwanted vibration, especially at idle on models equipped with automatic transmissions. It’s important to make sure that your other mounts are in good condition to avoid unwanted vibration.

Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations. The products listed on our website are for Volvos sold in the North American market. Many of the parts are exactly the same as those used in other markets, however we cannot guarantee fitment for those markets.

worth every penny! my old mount was almost completely worn out, but i never really bothered to change it until i could tell my engine was rocking around and my acceleration was taking a hit because of it. took me and a friend 10 minutes to put in, and instantly i could feel the difference. acceleration was worlds better. if your mount looks like it's wearing out, do yourself a favor and get one of these.

The absolute correct replacement for the old rubber bushing. It's very easy to remove
the worn rubber bushing if you have an air hammer chisel - pops right out! Found the
new one was easy to install.

I was very pleased with how easy this was to install, given I have never attempted this before. The hardest part was removing the old mount.
Cheers

25 min install, no tricks, and idiot proof instruction from ipd. The mount it replaced was 100% shot, so this new one made a huge difference. With the new mount it is harder to feel when the transmission is shifting and the car no longer clunks into gear when choosing drive, reverse, etc. Also no excess vibration. Very pleased

This bushing is my first IPD product/purchase....and I'm speechless. Especially with the shipping! My old bushing was torn and I just got my s70. The bushing makes all the difference in the world. Smoother shifts, and just a better feel of the motor altogether.

I will be purchasing more products from IPD. I couldn't be happier! Thanks!

P.s.
Buy this whether you need it or not.

My stock one was ripped and although i didn't check the oem price, i think this is about the same or even cheaper. anyways, it can be a somewhat difficult to get it in but its nothin a little swearing and a hard push can't fix. I didn't really notice any difference but its looks nice and i needed a new one.

My Upper mount on my 1999 XC70 was shot. There was virtually no rubber material left on the inside of the mount. I replaced with these silicone replacements and am very happy. There is more engine noise in the interior cabin, due to the hardness of the material, but I also notice that there is a more direct feel when I blip the accelerator. It took 30 minutes to install. I had to cut the old one out with a hack saw. That took the longest time. I'll need to now replace the old rubber mount that connects the upper arm to the fire wall. I noticed a lot of movement at that point because the mount is mushy.
