330mm Big Brake Kit Big brake kits for 1994-2000 850s and 70 series have ranged in price from $1800 to over $2800, but thanks to the efforts of one of our customers (CJ Yother) and our R&D team, we have produced a premium level brake upgrade kit at a budget price. The kit includes everything you need for a simple bolt-on upgrade that requires no modifications and can be installed in about two hours.
This kit dramatically improves the braking performance and resistance to warping, not to mention the awesome appearance.
We’ve used engineered adapters, massive Porsche/BREMBO 4-piston aluminum calipers, original Volvo S60R 330mm (13") front rotors, front ipd braided brake lines, Textar "Yellow Box" pads and two quarts of ATE Super Blue performance brake fluid.
Please note that 17 or 18” wheels are required with this brake kit due to the large diameter of the rotor and increased width of the caliper. 17 and 18” Volvo or ipd Pegasus wheels will fit without the need for spacers. Volvo Volans and Titans clear the outside diameter, but will require 15mm spacers to clear the caliper face. Carefully test your wheels prior to installation.
Note: Due to issues with brake squeal, we have changed from the Mintex (Red box) pads to Textar (yellow box) pads in this kit. Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations. The products listed on our website are for Volvos sold in the North American market. Many of the parts are exactly the same as those used in other markets, however we cannot guarantee fitment for those markets.

Before I installed these the squealing from the piston on the back of the pad was unbearable! It was so bad, in fact, that I was getting dirty looks in city traffic!!!
I installed them in under 15 minutes per side, and the difference is ridiculously amazing! The brakes still squeal just a tiny bit, but with pads so large it is to be a little expected. I would recommend this kit if you think the cause of your brake squeal is piston to pad vibrations.

I give this 5 for shear performance, amazing difference once the pads had bedded in, but as you have found out the brake squeal was unbearable with Mintex pads, though going to try Ferodo DS Performance pads. Very easy to fit and if replacement parts are needed they can be obtained from the relevant manufacturer supplier, ie Volvo for the discs and Porsche (or OEM supplier) for the calipers and pads, unlike an AP kit where the parts are less accessible. Wheels took a while to sort out but I used spacers which had little effect on the feel of the steering. But the car stops confidently from speed now whereas before it was worrying!!!!
