PerTronix Breakerless Ignition PerTronix has designed an economical update for your vintage Volvo to change your ignition distributor to electronic instead of mechanical (no more points and condenser). The small, self contained unit fits inside the distributor with a simple two-wire connection to the coil. It provides strong spark throughout the entire RPM range and years of maintenance free performance.
The Ignitor system operates magnetically with no moving parts to wear out. If the point lobes are worn on your distributor you can salvage it by installing this system.
We now have a unit to fit one of hte original B18 distributors (which are usually painted black and made of cast iron). B20 distributors are generally made of aluminum. For 122's and 1800's up to 1968, use kit 3E0299 and splice into the hot (+) circuit of the ignition coil which was originally armored. (Most have been converted to a conventional dual terminal coil, but if yours has the original single terminal coil, you'll have to break into the armored cable for connection, (or use wiring kit E106 to bypass it). Full instructions included. Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations. The products listed on our website are for Volvos sold in the North American market. Many of the parts are exactly the same as those used in other markets, however we cannot guarantee fitment for those markets.

The Perlux is absolutely one of the best no intrusion mod's I've ever done to my 73 ES. You will immediately notice that "grumpy" idle gone and smoother revving throughout your comfort range, not to mention in my case a definite boost in torque, my car is faster!!!!!. ON the D-Jet you may be confused about the factory instructions but IPD has laid out the proper wiring for your "current sensing tach" on page two of their install tech sheet. You don't have to cut any wires to route the leads either, they will slip through the inside of the distributor if you take off the larger rubber grommet supplied, just slip it back on to snug up. Do yourself a favor and advance your distributor by eye about 5 degrees before you start to re-time. There will be little or no throttle if you don't. Great piece of gear.

This is a highly recommended addition to the Pertronix ignitor. It simplifies installation of the ignitor (no need to cut into the coil armored cable). Installation is simple. You will need a female connector or two to complete installation.

Easy installation. Really smoothed out the idle in my tired '66 122 engine. No more points! I strongly recommend using the ipd diode kit (#E106) to avoid having to cut the armored coil cable.
