Overload Coils

Overload Coils

After decades of use, the rear springs (even on Volvos) usually begin to sag. If you fill the rear with cargo, it gets even worse. It looks funny, makes the car drive funny and changes the geometry of the rear suspension, which in turn puts additional stress on the shocks and bushings. Overload springs offer a 20% stiffer spring rate over stock, returning your Volvo to its proper ride height and will increase carrying capacity overall. Prices are per pair.

Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations. The products listed on our website are for Volvos sold in the North American market. Many of the parts are exactly the same as those used in other markets, however we cannot guarantee fitment for those markets.

Put these on this weekend, 144 with 145000 miles. One man installation in the parking lot of my townhouse, 3 hour install. Suspension is approx 1 inch higher in rear, much firmer, and ride quality is much improved. I have not tested then under load as yet. This is not a difficult install, and the results are readily apparent.

Worth it. The ride doesn't really feel any different. But the handling
when you're carrying a load of people or stuff is a whole lot better.
Before I got these, the rear springs sagged and the front end would feel
like it was barely hanging on when I had a heavy load in the car. Now, it
keeps its composure and carries the load safely.

I have them on my 92 245, and I can say they made a great differance. Very Good for when you have alot of stuff in your car, weighing it down-but i am going to switch them out for a complete set of TME lowering springs soon, to go with my cars new sporty look, in addition to the +T coming soon.

After installing the springs, I can feel my 245 handles more better. I have stiff shocks so the rear end is a bit too stiff, recommended to have soft shocks installed to go along with the overload springs.

These overload coils are amazing. I have carried refrigerators and engine complete with transmissions still attached to them inside my wagon. Hardly any noticeable sag on the rear. The ride does change in the rear but hardly noticeable. When under heavy load the springs ride like stock.
