Volvo 200 » Anti-Sway bars

Imagine my surprise when i noticed a difference just pulling out of the driveway after i installed them!!!!!!The ride was smoother.YES they improved the handling,but i NEVER would have guessed in a million years the fact that they made the car ride smoother over bumps and such.WOW!

These sway bars really are just as good as everyone says.
I wanted them for years, and finally 'bit the bullet', just wish I had done it sooner.
Got the Bilstein HD struts and some chassis braces and new bushings too...it's like a totally different car.

After fifteen years of waiting and wondering if I should make these upgrades, my 240 is FINALLY how I've always wanted it. Keep your 240 on the road...these cars are too great to send off the the junkyard. Upgrade old cars, don't replace the whole thing with a new car having no personality!

Please note that IPD's photos show the sway bars as being "goldish" in color, but mine came from IPD painted in a bright blue color. I like the color, and you can't really see them when they are installed on the car, unless you look underneath...However, if you're buying them, and if you care about the color, you might want to call IPD to see if you are getting gold or blue. Awesome product.

ipd customer service response: All of our sway bars are being switched to a blue powdercoated finish.

Okay i kinda figured these would provide better handling on corners and such as advertised. However i WAS NOT PREPARED for the IMMEDIATE difference i noticed in ride quality upon simply pulling out of the driveway after install. Suddenly the car was riding smoother over bumps and expansion joints.

Then there was the time the driver of that brand new Saab decided to abort an exit off the highway without looking and pulled back onto the road right in front of me!The combination of these bars,the Bilsteins and the 15 inch turbo wheels(not to mention in some part my driving skill)saved the lives of the passengers in that car.Had i not swerved really hard into the adjacent lane,i would have T-boned that car and possibly killed someone.There was not even so much as a chirp or squeal to be heard from my tires(although there WAS some loud,foul language that could be heard from me until i calmed down)I can take a long corner on the highway at some pretty insane speeds(for a Volvo 240) with these.

I have the swaybar set installed on my 83 245DL and love them. My confidence in handling and safety has gone up with IPD's sway bars.The car handles corners and sweeping turns like night and day compared to my wagon before the install. My friend borrowed my wagon when his car was in the shop and he couldn't believe how my Volvo handled. He was amazed.

I had these installed in my 1979 242 GT, and I can't express the difference. Body-roll is almost non-existent now, and this a must buy for any enthusiast, or anyone looking for a safer drive. The suspension feels much stiffer, and the ride height is noticeably lower, resulting in a sportier look, and a safer ride.

I always appreciated the handling of my 1982 Turbo wagon. However, I had no idea what I was missing. The car feels much more settled on the road and is far more stable at speed.

Everyday driving is amazing. At the limits, the car is solid and stable. It's a worthwhile investment and is very cost-effective.

ADVICE: Replace your end-links at the same time as the swaybars if they're not new...these swaybars are big and will wear out weak end links quickly. Get a set of good performance endlinks.

Don't hesitate just buy a set. It's the best upgrade you can make.

A must have not only for any Volvo 240 enthusiast, due to the enhanced performance but also a must for any common driver due to the security it adds for emergency maneuver situations. A great combination with rear poly bushings to keep the rear axle always on track.

I have owned many Volvos. Sway bars make a world of difference in the performance of my sedans or wagons. Buying these swaybars from IPD gives me the predictability and safety every time I corner hard with my car.
