Adjustable Rear Torque Rods

Adjustable Rear Torque Rods

Adjustable torque rods help to change the pinion angle of the differential in relation to the driveshaft. This can be useful for vehicles that suffer from improper working angles in the driveshaft. This type of misalignment can cause the driveshaft to shudder on heavy acceleration or when downshifting. Adjustable torque rods are the perfect fix for any car that has been converted to a one piece driveshaft. Heavy duty units come complete with polyurethane bushings and adjustable ends that provide 0.050 inch length change with each half rotation. Zinc plated with yellow chromate coating for a rust proof finish.

Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations. The products listed on our website are for Volvos sold in the North American market. Many of the parts are exactly the same as those used in other markets, however we cannot guarantee fitment for those markets.

If your torque rod bushings are shot, this is an easy and affordable way to replace
them while upgrading at the same time. The squeaky poly bushings will remind you
that your vehicle is no-longer stock and just knowing that blue powder coat is down
there will make you smile.

While transmitting some more road and drivetrain noise, the torque rods corrected a vibration from the driveshaft due to the bad pinion angle. If you are going to lower your 240 you should install these, especially if you are going lower than IPD's springs. My car sits about 1/2" lower in the rear than the IPD springs. It was also easier to install the upper rods from IPD than to buy replacement busings and hammer them in myself. I noticed an improvement in handling and less rear squat under hard acceleration. I would recommend the Adj Panhard as well if you are lowering. Huge improvement in handling using both. Now I just have to buy another set for my next project car.

This product is strong and very heavy duty, but they do translate a lot of vibration and increase the stiffness of a rear end immensly. Due to the fact that in order to lower a 240 you need stiffer lowered springs, adj. panhard rods and adj. torque rods make for a very stiff ride. All these parts do work great together but are not Portland Street worthy. Warning
