We have observed that there are as many maintenance philosophies as there are philosophies for life. The "by the book" philosophy: Volvo says to replace the whatchahoozit every 15,000 miles and that's what I do. The "Good Karma" philosophy: I love my Volvo and she loves me. She is a little set in her ways, but she always gets me home. When the weather is nice and the cash cows have been unusually generous, I always give the Volvo a little tune up to maintain balance in our relationship. The "minimalist" approach: Heck, with a little sand paper I can get 100,000 miles out of my spark plugs, distributor caps and rotors. Plug wires will go 200,000 miles with the occasional application of electrical tape.
