Volvo 200 » Air Mass Meter (AMS/MAF)

The most common reason for Air Mass Meter (Mass Air Flow Sensor) failure is overheating.  The thermostat for the hot/cold air flap control inside the air filter housing fails and pipes hot air through the Air Mass Meter.  Electronics don't like excessive heat.

ipd will not warranty any Air Mass Meter without the Air Box thermostat being replaced at the same time.
