Replace worn rotors when they need it and save other suspension components from harmonic vibration. Check the rotors with every brake pad change and replace them if they are close to the minimum thickness. A quick visual inspection will let you know if there is a ridge on the outer edge where the brake pads have worn a deep groove in the rotor.
