Volvo 122 » Sport Springs

Sport springs, or lowering springs as they are often called, serve two distinct purposes. The first is to improve the handling by lowering the center of gravity and reducing body movement with an increased spring rate (stiffer). Sport springs also increase firmness more than any other component, so keep these attributes in mind when considering this upgrade. However, of all the coils we have used, these TME coils are by far the best ride quality with the best handling.

The other use of sport springs is to attain a low aggressive look. This is probably the most popular reason for installing sport springs, to set your car apart from the masses with a sporty low profile. Our sport springs will lower your Volvo approximately 1 to 1-1/4" (30mm) and the spring rate is increased approximately 20-30%.

Put a set on my '67 coupe and they completely changed the handling - for the better. Coupled with IPD sway bars and gas shocks, the car sticks to the road like glue. So far have not been able to overdrive them on any corners, and practically no body roll or lean. They do preserve the "nose high" stance to the car, so have to with go with progressives or plus sizing to bring the nose down a bit if you want a little different look. As with any spring or suspension work - be safe and scheduel an alignment right afterwards.

The linear sport springs provide a firm yet better handling 1800. With Bilsteins, urethane bushings and IPD sway bars the handling and looks is exactly what I was looking for. With the previously installed progressive springs the rear had too much bounce.

These give both a great look and an even greater driving experience. Installation is fairly stright forward, but make sure you do it safely! I did a before and after "test drive" on the same road with both straight and twisting sections, and I could corner better, faster and with more control after the installation. The lower look of the car gives my '72 ES a completely different look and gets contant praise by onlookers. A definite plus!
