Motive Brake Bleeder Brake Bleeding Power for Do-it-Yourselfers! The Motive power bleeder system allows Do-It-Yourselfers to power bleed brake systems just like the pros without the need of an assistant to pump the brakes. This is important for two reasons. First, it allows the fluid to be bled without the brake pedal going all the way to the floor, which allows the master cylinder piston to travel beyond the normal stroke and can lead to premature failure of the master cylinder. Second, many of today’s newer ABS systems are so intricate that they can only be bled with a power bleeder. The Motive bleeder is designed for frequent use and has a rugged container and generous 2 qt. fluid capacity, as well as a built-in hand pump and gauge for accurate pressurizing. The system works on the principle of pressurizing the master cylinder so that old brake fluid is forced out of the lines when the bleed screws are opened. The design keeps the master cylinder full of fluid during the process so all you have to do is open a bleed screw until fresh fluid is flowing and then proceed to the next bleeder. This tool makes the task of bleeding brakes or other hydraulic systems an almost effortless, foolproof operation. Gone is the frustration of trying to coordinate pumping the pedal, opening and closing the bleed valve, trying to keep the fluid in the master cylinder at the correct level, and keeping air out of the system. We've been able to use this on the hydraulic clutch systems as found on 1800 and 122 models, but it doesn’t work on the earlier single circuit brake master cylinders. Simple tool, easy to use, requires minimum effort to completely flush brake system (takes some time though). No dealer will do this job properly !

Awesome product. I raised all four wheels off the ground with two sets of jack stands (one at each jacking point) and took less than 30 minutes to flush new Super Blue fluid through my system. I replaced my old rubber brake lines with stainless steel lines prior to the flush.
The key is to get all four wheels off of the ground, remove all tires and spray all drain screws with Blaster to ensure they loosen on demand. Test your brake system with AIR initially, to ensure there are no leaks. I used 10 PSI and the pressure did not decrease during the 10 minute air test. I followed the air test by adding 2 litres of Super Blue into the bleeder, pressurized to 10 PSI and followed Bentley for the proper sequence for bleeding. You will have to add pressure to the bleeder after bleeding each caliper in order to maintain 10 PSI.
I would never pay a shop to do this. This is a piece of cake.

This product was entirely disappointing, and was a total waste of money. Feel free to buy mine off of eBay. The instructions on the Motive Products Power Bleeder completely contradict those described in VADIS, and the lack of clarity turns the entire bleeding process into an unsuccessful mess. Unless you have a lift where you can bleed all four wheels at once, life is so much simpler and easier if you go to your local brake shop and request a $30 (with tax) pressure bleed and flush of your brake system. The local brake shop manager reports that Volvos rarely bleed properly if they are not connected to a professional shop's high pressure bleeding system, unless they are gravity bled for 2-3 hours, and follow-up research after hearing his comments leads me to believe he wasn't bullsh**ting me.

A very well built product that makes the job of bleeding your system easy. One small difficulty is the need to top off the fluid in the master cylinder, especially if you are flushing your system. The pressure cap and hoses are all hard clamped, so assembly and disassembly isn't as easy as it could be.

A must-have for the do-it-yourselfer. Definitely easier than having someone push the pedal while you open & close bleeder screws.
