The defogger works by heating the metal strip- the ground is on the right side and the 12-volt positive on the driver side. Inspect the faulty line to see if there is a break that is clearly visible. If not, try using a test light (with the defrost on) and gently probe the defrost line and check for power. There will be less and less as you move toward the right side. Be careful so you don’t damage the defroster. Locate where the power ends and use the kit to repair the break. There may be more than one break, so inspect closely.
