We've all seen it, a car on the side of the road with smoke pouring out of the hood. The owner, with no fire extinguisher, can only watch as the fire does more and more damage. The damage from fire is progressive. At first fuel, oil and hoses burn and the damage is confined to replaceable parts but as the fire's heat builds the body panels warp beyond repair and paint is blistered off.
With common fire extinguishers the damage continues even after the fire is out. The powder contained in many extinguishers is abrasive and can contain acids that can damage the engine and or the paint.
Our 16 oz fire extinguisher uses a liquid that is non-hazardous, non toxic, non corrosive, non carcinogenic and even biodegradable and uses no CFCs. The liquid has a super cooling effect on the fire and will even keep gas from igniting or reigniting (we verified this ourselves, yes intentionally). The makers say the liquid acts as a degreaser when cleaning up after an engine fire. So a quick hose off and the engine is clean.
