This is actually a SPY-tool! How i know? I tested it, to listen to what my 8 and 4 year-old kids were whispering about, some 20 metres from me - yes, now i know they know where i hid the chocolates!
While the overall presentation of the material seem to suggest its not THAT good a product, you'll be surprised to its performance. For starters, it does whatever the ad here said it could do. If you fit the stainless steel probe on, and touch the area you want to check with it, a NEW world of sounds emerges. If you remove the probes, you'd be able to find vacuum and gas leaks.
I was able to find a vacuum leak at the turbo at idle, and distinguish between the tappet sound and the injector clogging with this. (On a naked ear, the noise may seem similar, and have a direct relationship with the throttle, the more gas you give, the louder and quicker the noise.)
